Professor of Information Technology
Dr. Erman Coskun is a full professor of Management Information Systems and Operations Research. He has an academic career of over 17 years, having held positions in the United States, Turkey, and Cyprus. He has taught courses focusing on Management Information Systems, Supply Chain and Logistics Management and Quantitative Methods and Management Science in both the United States and Turkey. He has taught courses in these fields at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate Level and supervised the master and Ph.D. theses of over 20 students. He has won multiple teaching and career awards including LeMoyne College and Sakarya University Faculty Member of the Year, Best MBA faculty member, the best Ph.D. advisor, The Most Productive Faculty Award.
Dr. Coskun’s research is focused on Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Resource Planning, and Disaster and Crisis Management. His research has been published in journals including Government Information Quarterly, Systems and Software, Information and Software Technology, Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and top conferences in MIS area such as International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Americas Conference on Information Systems(AMCIS), European Conference on Information Systems(ECIS).
Dr. Coskun has held a variety of managerial and administrative positions in both Sakarya University, Turkey and Lemoyne College, USA including serving as the Founding Chair of Sakarya University’s Management Information Systems department and program, the head of Sakarya University’s Quantitative Methods department, deputy chair of Social Sciences Institute, AACSB Accreditation Committee, Sakarya University Rank and Tenure Committee, University Ethics Committee, Curriculum Committee, Business School Faculty Executive Board. He also has done consulting work for the private sector and government institutions in the US and in Turkey, where he has undertaken multiple projects to establish information systems, decision support systems and optimize analytical systems. Currently, he is serving as a consultant for a financial credit scoring institution and an ERP software development company.
Dr. Coskun earned his doctorate in Engineering Science and his Master’s in Industrial and Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in NY, USA. He also holds an MBA in Management Science and Quantitative Methods from Pace University NY, USA as well as an MS and BBA from Istanbul University, İstanbul, Turkey.
Dr. Coskun is currently serving as an Information Systems program evaluator for ABET and he is a member of Association of Information Systems. He is also a founding member and academic relations committee chair of Turkish chapter of AIS.
