Ammar is the Founder and the Chairman of “AlKhabeer Capital”, a fully licensed investment company since 2008 under the aegis of the Capital Markets Authority, with a paid-up capital of SAR 0.9 billion and Assets Under Management of SAR 7.1 billion (as end of 2021). Starting his investment banking career in 1990, Ammar has been instrumental in transforming conventional finance into Sharia-compliant financial product where he pioneered Islamic strategic securities and financial products in the region, such as the first asset-backed securities investment fund, the first real estate development investment fund, the first real estate income investment fund, and the first Islamic credit card in Saudi Arabia.

In 2005, he founded Shariah Review Bureau, the first and leading professional independent institution in the GCC and some select countries worldwide, based out of Bahrain, that provides assessment of financial transactions to ensure their compliance with Islamic principles. 

In 2021, Ammar founded two further companies, namely “Center for Corporate Services Saudi Arabia” which provides advice in key areas to senior management of companies/institutions in a joint venture with a corporate finance boutique firm; and “Gotrah Venture”, a Startup Studio that adds more than just cash. It uses a hands-on approach using a skilled and well experienced team, resources, and a solid validation process. 

Precognition for his leading efforts include “Man of the Year” from World Finance in 2012, listed in the Global Finance’s of Who’s Who in Middle Eastern Finance since 2016, and a Saudi writer award for his book “A Hundred Degrees Below Zero” 

Ammar has participated in several state agencies, including Chairman of the Permanent Advisory Committee of the General Authority of Endowments, Riyadh (Formerly) and Member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Islamic Economics, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah.  

Ammar earned a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Economic Planning from the University of Southern California, USA, and he is a CFA® charter holder.
